Artecola Advances in Decarbonization and Adopts Electric Forklifts in Latin America
Artecola takes another significant step in its journey toward sustainability and operational decarbonization. The company has begun replacing gas-powered forklifts with electric models at its facilities in Brazil, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions and reinforcing its commitment to increasingly cleaner and more efficient operations.
With the replacement of seven pieces of equipment, the company estimates a reduction of approximately 41,300 kg of CO₂e per year, consolidating important advances in its environmental strategy. The initiative already ensures 100% electrified operations in Campo Bom and Caxias do Sul (RS) and 25% of the Tatuí (SP) unit. In addition to Brazil, Artecola's plants in Chile and Colombia have also adopted electric forklifts, expanding the positive impact of the initiative in Latin America.
Until now, Artecola used gas-powered forklifts, which already have a lower environmental impact compared to traditional combustion equipment. The migration to electric models represents an even more significant advance, combining zero pollutant emissions, greater energy efficiency, and more practicality for operators.
“Artecola has taken another step in its sustainability strategy by replacing gas-powered forklifts with electric models, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions and making its operations cleaner and more efficient,” highlights Alessandra Lemos, ESG specialist at Artecola.
More efficiency, safety, and comfort in the workplace
The new forklifts are equipped with lithium batteries, which represent a significant evolution in terms of sustainable performance, economy, and productivity. Because they do not operate by combustion, the equipment does not emit pollutants, keeping the industrial environment cleaner, quieter, and safer, in addition to directly contributing to the well-being of the teams.
Another important differentiator is the high energy efficiency, with longer-lasting batteries and fast recharging, which reduces operational interruptions. The lower maintenance requirements and the elimination of fuel use also result in reduced monthly costs and simplified internal processes.
Electric technology significantly reduces daily checklist items, eliminates risks related to gas use, and eliminates downtime for cylinder changes, making the operational routine safer and more efficient.
With this initiative, Artecola reaffirms its role as an industry committed to innovation, sustainability, and building a low-carbon future, transforming environmental challenges into opportunities for evolution for its business and for society.
